Apple has just announced the iPhone 3Gs “the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet.”. Until the next product cycle commences anyway. The new iPhone will be 2x faster than the iPhone 3G when surfing and loading apps. Looking cosmetically the same on the outside, the new phone does come wiht a slew of new features under the hood. Of note are the improved 3D support – more games. A new 3 megapixel camera which is video capapble – Let nothing ever go uncaptured. Voice control, which will no doubt be used in some amazing apps. “Computer, read email” or “Computer, find me the nearest toilet”. Proper GPS like navigation which knows which direction you are facing. Again great for gaming. And last but definitely not least a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating on the touch glass.

]]>I remember when I was a little skater, yeah we are going back a long while. When we weren't skating on the streets, we were skating in our minds. When fingerboards came out, we transformed our classroom tables into skateparks, with textbooks acting as makeshift ramps and pencils as handrails.
Well technology has moved on, and so has the fingerboard. Touchgrind lets you relive all those tricks on your iPhone. Ollies, grinds, kickflips are all possible depending on teh dexterity of your fingers. It takes a little getting used to, but once you manage to pull a flip to railslide, you will be hooked.
Touchgrind makes ingenious use of the iPhone/ iPod's touchscreen to simulate the movements needed to execute tricks. If you skate, the movements will be intuitive.. Newbies can engage the tutorials for some practise before hitting the virtual skateparks.

]]>Kondobots are human like robots from Japan which have been quite a hit with basement robophiles. Not satisfied with watching their creations dance and do push ups, some evil minds have unleashed their robots against one another in fight club style battles. Not suprising given that Mecha anime genre orginated from Japan. One step closer to the complete annihilation of the human race? Only time will tell..
But there is a cuter side. Check out the RoboChan, an ipod touch controlled kondobot. From the video, the app is able to control and program the robot’s movements . Craazy stuff.

Sure a whole lot of them may be Kwap, but every now and then one appears which just blows your mind away with how creatively people are making use of the iPhone’s interface.
Take a look at Smule’s Ocarina – a wind pipe instrument which Zelda fans should be familiar with. This app cleverly utilises the speaker on the iPhone and the touch interface to mimic an ocarina. Once you have mastered a couple of tunes (you can get sheet music from SMule.com), you can even upload the music to share with other players. All via an amazing globe interface.
